Our
Vision for Worship Ministries
Through
our corporate worship ministries we seek to worship God
in spirit and truth (John 4:24).
We
believe the Scriptures teach that the key elements of corporate
worship are prayer (1 Tim. 2:1-2), Scripture (1 Tim. 4:13),
singing of praise (Eph. 5:19), giving (1 Cor. 16:2), the
Lord’s Supper (1 Cor. 11:17-34), and baptism (Matt.
28:19). These elements will characterize our corporate worship
services. We believe corporate worship that honors God maintains
the preaching of the word of God as its central feature
(1 Tim. 4:13-16; 2 Tim. 4:1-4).
Musically
our worship will aim for an expression of corporate worship
that is conservatively contemporary. We will avoid the idolatry
of venerating either antiquity (2 Kings 18:4) or novelty
(Acts 17:21). We will not deify the past and demonize the
present, nor will we canonize the new and cast aside our
heritage. We will employ both the best of the Church’s
rich heritage of music, recast for a new generation, and
the best of today’s fresh expressions of praise.
We
are committed to worship as one body (Rom. 12:4-5), even
if in multiple services. To this end we will not offer services
with differing styles of music.
We
aim not for the comfort of the individual, but for the glory
of God joyfully expressed by the whole of His fellowship.
We believe that corporate worship provides one of our most
obvious opportunities to “look not only to your own
interests, but also to the interests of others” (Phil.
2:4) and, that as we do so, it becomes perhaps our greatest
expression of worship to God.
